THE LITTLER LEAGUE LEADERSHIP ACADEMY
THE LITTLER LEAGUE LEADERSHIP ACADEMY
Preparing Students for Life Before Life Expects Them to Be Ready
The Littler League Leadership Academy is a year-long leadership development program created to help young people become confident, capable, responsible, and prepared.
Students will learn the real-world skills they need to succeed in school, future careers, and their communities. They will not simply sit and listen—they will practice, lead, compete, create, serve, and build meaningful relationships.
The Academy welcomes students who already show leadership potential, as well as students who need additional confidence, guidance, positive influences, or an opportunity to discover what they are capable of becoming.
WHAT STUDENTS WILL LEARN
Throughout the Academy year, students will develop skills in:
• Confidence and self-esteem
• Public speaking and communication
• Leadership and teamwork

• Goal-setting and personal responsibility
• Networking and relationship-building
• Problem-solving and decision-making
• Financial literacy and entrepreneurship
• Career exploration and preparation
• Community service and civic responsibility
STUDENTS WILL NOT JUST LEARN—THEY WILL DO
Depending on their age group, Academy students may:

LITTLER LEADERS: ELEMENTARY STUDENTS
The Little Leaders program is designed for elementary students in third grade and above.
Elementary students are not expected to already know how to lead. Some will enter the Academy because they naturally stand out, while others may need help finding their voice, believing in themselves, making positive choices, or recognizing their own potential.
Little Leaders will attend every other Academy meeting and participate in developmentally appropriate leadership activities. They will not be assigned the same departmental responsibilities as older students.
Little Leaders will:
• Be paired with a positive high school mentor
• Practice speaking clearly and introducing themselves confidently
• Learn how to stand with confidence and maintain eye contact
• Participate in spelling bees and friendly academic challenges
• Complete age-appropriate group projects
• Practice kindness, teamwork, responsibility, and problem-solving
• Participate in community service
• Learn how to identify and use their personal strengths
• Meet professionals and explore different careers
• Learn how to communicate respectfully with children and adults
• Receive encouragement, guidance, and positive accountability
THE HIGH SCHOOL MENTORSHIP EXPERIENCE
Each Little Leader will have the opportunity to build a relationship with a high school mentor.
Mentors will provide encouragement, model positive behavior, participate in activities with their students, and help younger students feel supported as they develop confidence and leadership skills.
This mentorship experience gives elementary students someone positive to look up to while helping high school students practice responsibility, patience, communication, and leadership.
MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL LEADERS
Older Academy students will receive more advanced leadership development and opportunities to take meaningful responsibility.
They may:
• Serve in Academy departments or committees
• Help plan events, service projects, and community initiatives
• Mentor elementary students
• Participate in professional panels and networking opportunities
• Develop public-speaking and interview skills
• Explore entrepreneurship and financial literacy
• Build relationships with professionals and community leaders
• Complete projects they can include in school, scholarship, college, and employment applications
WHAT STUDENTS WILL GAIN
By the end of the Academy year, students will have strengthened their confidence, communication, leadership, and teamwork skills.
They will also have opportunities to:
• Develop a relationship with a positive mentor
• Participate in service and group projects
• Explore careers and meet community professionals
• Practice speaking and presenting in front of others
• Build a portfolio of leadership experiences and accomplishments
• Become more comfortable advocating for themselves
• Learn how to carry themselves confidently in school, professional, and community settings
WHO SHOULD JOIN?
The Leadership Academy may be a great fit for a student who:
• Naturally takes initiative or shows leadership potential
• Is intelligent or talented but needs direction
• Is shy and needs help finding their voice
• Needs positive role models, encouragement, or accountability
• Would benefit from stronger communication or social skills
• Enjoys helping others and working in groups
• Needs opportunities beyond the classroom
• Wants to prepare for future academic, career, and leadership opportunities
Students do not need perfect grades, prior leadership experience, or an outgoing personality to participate. They only need the opportunity and willingness to grow.

STUDENT SAFETY AND MENTORING STANDARDS
The safety and well being of every student comes first. Mentors and students will interact through structured Academy activities with appropriate adult and parental oversight.
Mentors may not meet privately or remain alone with a student. At least one additional student or authorized adult must be present during Academy interactions. Mentors and students may not communicate at inappropriate hours. Phone calls, text messages, and other direct communication must include or be supervised by a parent or guardian.
All participants are expected to respect personal boundaries, follow Academy procedures, communicate professionally, and immediately report any concern to Academy leadership.
COMMITMENT AND ATTENDANCE
Consistent attendance matters because local professionals and community leaders are volunteering their time to invest in Academy students. Students are expected to arrive prepared, participate fully, communicate in advance when an absence is unavoidable, and complete their service and leadership responsibilities.
